Hi guys,
I signed up for this a couple of months ago, and initially i wasn't going to create a 'build log'. But i'm liking this (probably more so than the ships i've started), so basically i've changed my mind Blink.

Because i am up to pack 3, this is where by log will begin, so.....

Ok guys here are my fist pics of my Spitty. Hope you like BigGrin. I was a little concerned that the 2 side pieces of fuselage wouldn't be level as ther is little to form the correct angle. But needn't have worried because once you fit the fuselage frames for the top and bottom everything squares up nicely.

More to follow.....

Hi guys
Once again thanks for looking in. At the moment, my build is on hold due to the fact that the main wing spar has cracked. Unfortunately CS is out of stock, so i will just have to be patient Mellow.

I did scratch my head a bit when trying to identify the various wing rib numbers, until i realised that they had differing internal designs Confused. My own fault for not being as observant of Tom's build diary as i should have been. (note to self: pay attention next time lol).

Anyway, will update better once the new wing spar arrives and i can continue.

Regards
Gray

Hi guys
Well after my accident with the wing spar (see photo-cracked in a place that i couldn't repair, so CS bless em sent me a new one BigGrin ), i am back on my spitty build.

I don't know if anyone will find this tip useful, but i'll put it out there anyway..... as all the wing ribs are extremely tight and i don't want to repeat cracking the spar, i am using one of the rib infills to gauge the correct widths before starting to glue any ribs in place.

Regards
Gray

ermmm Confused
I have noticed a problem here. I have made sure (at least i thought i did) that the ribs are all square, but ribs 2,4 & 6 seem to be raised, a bit like the wing spar has warped somehow. Huh

I don't suppose anyone has any ideas how to cure this problem?

Here's a couple of pics of what i mean. When the wing spar is weighted it sits square again.

i'm confused Confused Confused Confused

Initially it looks like the high ribs have not been set correctly during the gluing process., presumably the main spar was not warped to start with? Also double check that you have the correct ribs located into the corresponding slots as some are very similar.

Hi mr T thanks for looking in. Don't think wing spar was warped, or if it was it was only minor (so minor i didn't see it).

Do you think i should remove and re-seat? Or will the cross members pull everything in line again?

Dry fitting the rear spar looks like it has pulled them into position but first check that non of the ribs are proud of the main spar as this would indicate them not being seated properly.

If any are proud they should be removed and reseated. The main spar looks ok to me for no warps.

I would glue the rear spar in place and add some weight to make sure all the rear rib tabs are seated on your build board this should square it all up nicely. I would also leave it to dry overnight so it has no chance of moving.
Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .
