I have used a hair dryer to blow out the gun port openings in the past and I think a soft, long haired paint brush is about the only answer I can think of to dust off all the deck details etc.

I have a predicament in the bow section, regarding belfry/gratings/mast spacing. From the attached photo, you can see that if I space the gratings as per instructions, the gap to the legs of the belfry is only approx 2mm. If I move the belfry back so that the rear legs sit on the opening trimmer, I can achieve 5mm. Has anyone else come across this problem or have I got something set out incorrectly? goddo attached the following image(s):

I've been jogging along in a fairly random sort of way but I finally managed to get the cannons and carronades fitted. Just got to make some more rope coils to finish things off. Next stage is the chain wales which, I must admit, I am not looking forward to. One thought I did have was to replace the copper wire "loops" with black thread or small link chains. I mentioned previously that I didn't really like the brass wire "loops" provided in the kit to go below the chainwales. As I haven't been able to locate a sensibly sized linked chain to try, I have used black thread as a test. Any comments appreciated before I move on to the other chainwales. goddo attached the following image(s):

Hi Goddo,  Looking good.  Ref: Your question about the links under the chainwales, I`ve sourced an image of the real thing (attached below) and its just two links so very unlikely you will find anything like it elsewhere. For authenticity the brass wire loops provided are closest, but at the end of the day its your build so go with what you are most comfortable with. I found the brass wire too difficult to work with and used copper instead. It was a lot easier to bend without breakage.

Hi Chris, in relation to the brass link question. You may like to consider purchasing soft brass wire from CMB. The soft brass wire is much easier to work with and is something I've used a few times on my builds... Regards Alan
