Stage 67

Thunderbird 2

Parts supplied:
Tracks, Slider, Pipes x2, Ramp unit, Shaft long, Shaft short.

Join the corners of the last stage’s ramp base to those of this stage’s slider so the corners will meet to form a hinge and insert the longer shaft smooth end first. Then push in the ribbed tip securing the shaft.

Raise the ramp base and move its slide bar down so it meets the tabs. When the hole cut through the bar’s head meets those of the tabs fit the shorter shaft smooth tip first through the holes and press this in all the way. Then check the slider raises and lowers as you pull and push the base’s slide plate.

Glue the ramp unit onto the pins and then glue the pipes in place making sure their orientation is correct. Then line up the assembly to the tracks and noting the orientation of the parts slot the racks into place making sure that it clicks firmly into place and then check that the tracks can slide back and forth along the grooves.

Feed the ramp assembly into Pod 4, unit side first and glue it via its mounting posts to the pod floor. Now check again that the slide plate still raises and lowers the ramp as before and with the ramp raised check the tracks can be extended out over the front hatch.

Jet Air Transporter

Parts supplied:
Cockpit, Control desk, Main body, Joystick, Base, Pumps x2, Virgil Tracy.

Glue the joystick into its slot on the control desk making sure its orientation is correct
and then glue the control panel into its hole in the cockpit’s floor.

Now glue the main body to its base and fit the pumps to the upper surface. When dry glue the cockpit to the main body and lastly place the Virgil figurine on the seat.

Stage 69

Thunderbird 2

Parts supplied:
Booster, Booster plate, Booster vents, Screws x3.

Like the one supplied with the last stage, the booster plate has a smooth and a rough face. Dry fit the vents to the plate with the plate’s smooth face touching the vents. Now fit the vent/plate assembly into the booster and turn the assembly over and check that the ridges are holding the vent/plate in place and finally secure the vent/plate assembly with two screws.

Alan`s racing car

Parts supplied:
Body, Front windscreen, Rear windscreen, Steering wheel, Fin, Detail transfers.

Fit the steering wheel into the hole in the dashboard. Then fit the front windscreen (making sure the orientation is correct) by carefully pressing the windscreen into place from its top ridge – do not press down too hard. Now fit the rear windscreen also noting its orientation and then glue the rear fin in place. Next glue the body to the chassis assembly and check there are no gaps where the parts meet.

That completes the assembly – the next step is to add the water-based transfer details. Follow the download instruction steps 13 - 21 for details on how to apply the decals.

Stage complete, carefully store any remaining parts in a stage labelled bag.

Stage 70

Thunderbird 2

Parts supplied:
Casing A, Casing B, LED holder, LED/cable, Speaker/cable, Screws x2.

Testing the LED

Fetch the battery box used previously and fit its AA batteries. Then making sure the switch is turned off connect up the battery box’s cable to the CON1 socket and the LED’s cable to the CON2 socket. Switch the power on and the LED will light up. Turn the power off and disconnect the cables.

Construction

Slot the LED into its holder and fit the LED into the hole in the casing B so that the LED holder sits on the mounting post next to the hole. Check the LED is seated correctly in the hole and secure the LED holder with a screw.

Now take the LED’s cable and the speakers cable and feed them through the rectangular hole in the side of casing A, entering from the inside. Then holding the LED cable in place move the speaker into the casing A and check from the reverse that the speaker front is seated correctly.

Next gently bend the LED’s cable to about 40 degrees and join the casing B to casing A via its tabs to secure the parts. Finally fit the assembly (LED side first) into the previously assembled booster.

Stage complete, carefully store any remaining parts in a stage labelled bag.

Thunderbird 2

Parts supplied:
Booster intake, Mesh, Top bracket, Lower bracket, Screws x3.

Note: there is difference in length between the cables running from the casing that holds the speaker. Use a piece of tape to mark the longer cable with an S, for speaker.

Glue the mesh into the inside of the booster intake making sure its perforations are forming horizontally aligned diamonds.

Feed the LED and speaker cables leading from the booster through the central hole in the booster intake. Now locate the slots on the intake and the tabs inside the booster body, then twist the parts so they engage and hold the parts together.

The booster is ready to be fitted, so seat the lower bracket into its space at the rear-right of your T2 model and lower the booster into position so the intake’s ‘neck’ sits in the bracket with the slot facing upwards.

Noting the top bracket has a tab at its back edge that will match the slot, lower it onto the boosters neck fitting the tab into the slot and fix with two screws.

Cobra Half-Track

Parts supplied:
Drive wheels A x2 and Wheels A x6 (on a fret), Drive wheels B x2 and Wheels B x6 (on a fret), Chassis, Fender, Tracks x2, Axles x4.

Glue the drive wheels A and B together as you have done previously and then the wheels A and B. Now fit a drive wheel to an axle and three wheels to the remaining axles.

Fit the drive wheels’ axle into the rearmost hole in the chassis and press the other drive wheel onto the axle to secure them. Now fit the three remaining axles into the chassis and press a wheel onto the free end of each axle. Next fit both of the tracks making sure that they engage fully with all of the wheels. Finally glue the fender to the chassis carefully checking its orientation.

Stage complete, carefully store any remaining parts in a stage labelled bag.

Thunderbird 2

Parts supplied:
Booster intake, Mesh, Top bracket, Lower bracket, Screws x3.

Glue the mesh into the inside of the booster intake making sure its perforations are forming horizontally aligned diamonds as before. Then feed the LED cable leading from the remaining rear booster through the central hole in the mesh making sure the cable is not caught on any part of the assembly.

Locate the slots on the intake and the tabs inside the booster body. Engage these slots and tabs and then twist the parts so they lock together. The booster is ready to be fitted.

Seat the lower bracket into the space at the rear-left of your T2 model. Then lower the booster into position so the intake’s ‘neck’ sits in the bracket and the slot is facing upwards.

Noting the top bracket has a tab at its back edge that will match the slot, lower it onto the boosters neck fitting the tab into the slot and fix with two screws.

Cobra Half-Track

Parts supplied:
Main body, Underbody, Underbody panel, Pad, Front axle, Wheels x4, Hubcaps x2 (on a fret).

Glue the pad to the underbody panel pressing it fully into place. Then noting the parts orientations glue the underbody panel to the underbody pressing the parts together so there are no gaps where they join.

Place the front axle into the groove and fit the underbody assembly to the underside of the main body checking that the parts are perfectly flush.

Feed two wheels onto one side of the axle and retain them by pressing a hubcap onto the end of the axle, then repeat for the other wheel set. Finally glue this stage’s assembly to the top of the assembly from the previous stage.

Pack complete, carefully store any remaining parts in a stage labelled bag.
