Thanks Phil, appreciated.... The painting of all these decorations does get a little tedious at times but has to be done, shame they are so small..... Onwards we go...Cool Cool

Stage 96 Contents: Decorations.

Remove any burrs or flash from the decorations supplied with this stage. Apply a coat of metal primer and leave to dry.

Now retrieve decorations C68b, C68g, C68h, C58j and C58k from stage 80. If you haven’t already done so then remove any burrs or flash from these decorations and apply a coat of metal primer.

Follow the painting guide provided within the instructions to paint all these decorations. When dry, carefully store the decorations in a bag labelled with this stage number, ensuring you can easily identify the two different sets.

This stage is now complete.

Very neat work.

They look like they are "trying the builders patience" with some of thosevparts getting smaller it looks like to me.

Thanks Tony, can only agree with you. Builders will need a great deal of patience when painting all of the decorations, they are small, detailed and never ending. Same image again but this time with the customary penny shot for scale and these are not the smallest.....Cool Cool

Thanks Kev for your kind comments, appreciated as always....Cool Cool .. Painting the castings is certainly a challenge and there is still some 300 still to be done. Time consuming but hopefully all the effort will be worth it in the end....Cool Cool

Stage 98 Contents: Stern Decorations and Wooden Strips.

Remove any burrs or flash from the decorations supplied with this stage. Apply a coat of metal primer and leave to dry.

Follow the painting guide provided within the instructions to paint the decorations. When dry, carefully store the decorations in a bag labelled with this stage number.

Now retrieve the four lion head (C20) decorations from stage 89. Note: The instructions do not advise when these decorations are to be painted however, you will need paint these in order to complete this stage. Remove any burrs of flash from these decorations and apply a coat of metal primer. Follow the painting guide in Stage 83 to paint these decorations.

Glue two 1.5x5mm wooden strips together side by side then repeat with another two strips. When the glue has dried, sand any uneven areas of the strips smooth. (I chose to paint (RAL 3020) these strips now). Cut a total of 52 (10x10mm) sections from the strips and paint any unpainted edges.

Take the 0.5x6mm wooden strips and lightly sand them smooth. I chose to stain these strips now using the same stain as was used on the main hull. Glue two wooden strips together side by side then repeat with another two strips. Cut the final strip in half and glue the two halves together side by side. Cut a total of 52 (12x12mm) sections from the strips and touch up any edges where needed.

Glue a 10mm piece into the centre of the 12mm piece, leaving a gap of 1mm on every side. These parts make up the gun port doors. Repeat the process until you 52 doors. Now retrieve the 18 lion head decorations C20 and glue a lion head decoration in the centre of 18 of the prepared gun port doors.

Carefully store the decorations and the gun port doors in a bag labelled with this stage number.

This stage is now complete.

Hi Alan,

Wonderful job on the painting, that must have took some time, great skill,I can remember painting gunports in my youth on a ship called (Norske-Love) Billing Boats they were the same color red and gold so I know how hard it was for you to paint them.

Well done

Regards Trev.
