100 years since the guns fell silent across Europe

17 million dead
20 million injured
Every family effected

In Commemoration and Remembrance I will be building a weapon that changed the face of the 20th Century, known universally by its origonal secret code word of 'Tank'.

The Tank contrary to the belief of some was not a war winning weapon in any war and certainly not in the Great War, but it did help restore movement to the battlefield, it also put more economic pressure on Germany as they tried dismally to compete.

I will be building Tamiya's 1:35 male tank. I have the export version which includes the set of British infantry release around the same time as the kit. I Diorama in a boxLove

Comming soon

Kit review,

I am not going to labour on the detail of the kit, it is to Tamiya's usual high standard. This is the motorised version which plusses up the number of parts from what is otherwise a quite simple kit.

A highlight is the fully working snap together track links.

looking forward to building this Diorama.

BigGrin Nice kit but for a dio perhaps the Meng kit with full interior would have been a better choice rather than fixing a motorized tank in place on a dioCool

of we go then...

Build starts with the box mounted on the rear of the tank. lots ov cleverly rivet detail and the usual Tamiya quality of fit. The rear plate gives the option to model the door open, the door has inter detail, but given this has a motor ne point having it open.

we are straight into building the motor after that. Its very easy to pull together a little bit of cutting polly tube but nothing taxing.

The motor is screwed to the floor plate with the switch face down. the battery holder mounts onto the base plate with Velcro. the wires from the motor are supposed to be held on with polly tube, but I chose to rack them on with a spot of solder.

The first internal side plate then goes on which further secures the motor. Front plate then goes on before the second side.

A motor test at his point and all good Cool

The top plate is designed to be removable to allow access the battery and motor. The driver and commander forward positions are assembled next with options to show the vision ports in any degree of open or closed.

Lovely start there Jase and that kit is definitely up to Tamiya's usual standard by the look of it!Cool
This brings back memories of my Messines build too! It would be great if Tamiya brought this one out in the large scale RC range like the Sherman and Leopard etc (was it 1/16th scale?) I've got the Leopard but she hasn't run for donkeys years due to a wonky gearbox!Crying

Looking forward to the next instalment.
