Not a build diary, I hav'nt even got a kit, but that's why I've put this post on!
I've been following your builds and they all look the 'biz', but which kit is the best, mainly for quality but also detail and easy to understand plans?Confused
Andy has just completed an absolutly stunning buildDrool , but even he say's that the DeAg version has probably more detail!
So, has anybody got theories on the best kit?
Any help would be greatly apreciated.BigGrin

jeff,I have done two versions, the amati, and the deag one,the deag one has only a 1/2 scale plan of the kit,but a full size pic of the deck, instructions a nightmare,on both kits, but the deag has better detail.
and the sails are a joy.the amati supplies copperplates, but no sails, the deag doesn't have the plates so you pays yer money and takes your choice.

Hi Jeff,
If you find an old Del Prado kit on e-bay, don't bother with it.
It is poor. I paid £50 for my one and wished I had put the money towards a better kit.
Cheers Peter

I knew that you had done two CS kits Karl, (greedy so and so) and and am glad of your input.
by the way I came across some usefull info on the subject,
Amati have by far the the best CS kit, though it has not made it to retail as it was developed for Hachette as a partwork series and was tested about 2yrs ago.
It did not draw enough interest to proceed with a series launch, though it is likely that it will be re-tested in anticipation of the renovation of the real Sark being completed in 2012, and hopefuly launched as a series in 2012.BigGrin
It incorporates cabin detail and lift out panel sections and the attention to detail is second to none, which by far outways any other Sark kit on the market.Drool
If you don't see it as a partwork in 2012, it's possible that Hachette may licence the design back to Amati where it may then appear as a retail kit under the Amati name.

Could be worth the wait!
