Hi All, BigGrin

First, here`s a bit of info into what this is all about.Blink

Living and doing some voluntary work on the local waterway I recently purchased a RC model yacht so I could get out during the summer months and enjoy the good old British summer, so that should keep me busy at least two days a year. LOL LOL

I purchased a yacht in the "marblehead" class, which to say the least is LARGE. I took a run to the local RC yacht club which is only half a mile away and realised very quickly that if the yacht doesn`t go exactly where you want it too, then recovery could well mean getting very wet.Crying Crying

The solution to this potential issue is to have a recovery vessel.Huh

So, how to source a relevant vessel?

Out of the box RC boats are so fast that they would more likely wreck the boat you are trying to recover.Confused Confused

To that end I`m going to roll back the years and build a 60`s era RC boat that I will call "Recovery". Now that`s original Eh.

LOL LOL LOL

I have found plans and instructions in a magazine sold in WHS that should fit the bill, so this is what its all about.

Below I have attached a clipped image of the vessel I will be constructing, but hopefully with a better shape to the bow. This will be built as per the build instructions, but I will be adding a catch-hook system to pull an errant yacht away from the banks and bushes I can`t get too.

For now just the one pic, but will be adding more as this project progresses and will be adding some pics of the yacht that won`t do as its told.Blushing

Great idea Derek. Will watch with interest. Better than getting wet retrieving the yacht. Andy.

That should be interesting.

Not sure if its the same magazine but they used to do one (maybe still do) were you received plans to 2 models alternative months.

The "old fashioned" sort of construction from balsa but that said tried and tested methods.

Be interesting to see how you get on with this project.

Tony

Good to hear your supplies have arrived Derek.

It will be interesting to see something like this come together.

I remember years ago watching "Model World" with Bob Symes. These was a book that went with the series and i remember building the leander class frigate.

Had no place to sail it but do remember it was great fun and easy building.

Hope yours gets off to a good start.

Tony
